Gupteswar Cave of Koraput
Gupteswar Cave is a very nice and popular picnic spot in Odisha. This beautiful place is located in the district of Koraput, Odisha at distance of 55 kms from Jeypore town. Here in these caves Load shiva is worshipped by millions of peoples those visiting this place every day.
Gupateswar is a lovable place; its climate is very cold and suitable for spending time. The cave located the top of the Gupteswar hill. In this cave a very big Shiva Linga is present, the height of the Shiva Linga is 3ft and the width is around 10ft. Story behind the Gupteswar Cave
According to the local people the story behind this Gupteswar cave is In Ramayana the Lord Rama, Maa Sita and Brother Laxman came to this place and making this Shiva Linga at this cave to worshipped Load Mahadev (Lord Shiva). At the near of this temple Rama Kund and Sita Kund are situated. According to local people these 2 are the bath pond of Load Rama and Maa Sita.
The entrance of the cave is about 3 m wide and 2 m height. The cave is very dark so the people can entry into the cave with touch light. In the time of Shiva Ratri millions of people come to this temple to worship lord Shiva. In this time the temple is looking very nice and with millions of peoples this place becomes very energetic. The other famous accession is in this temple is Kartika purnima, Shrabana purnima. In the Shrabana purnima the people bath in Mahakund and chant near the Shiva Linga.
